What is the difference between bluray and 3d blu ray

Can I play them on this screen? Some non-3D titles are later patched to receive 3D extras. Can I watch 3DTV while lying on my side? The 3D effect is created by placing the pictures for your left and right eye horizontally next to each other.

The effect works best when your head is upright. The more you lean over, the less 3D you will see. I wear eye prescription glasses and contacts. Can I watch 3D? Is 3DTV safe and can everyone see it? When used properly and when instructions and advice are followed, 3DTV should not pose adverse health or safety risks.

And with big Hollywood movies like Wonder Woman and Blade Runner still being released theatrically in a 3D format, 3D enthusiasts can expect to see more titles turn up on Blu-ray 3D disc going forward. Yes because SBS take two half frames and scales them to show alternately. Thanks all for your responses. You would need as minimum a 2k tv. Does the bluray drive somehow compensate for this.

Full sbs has 2 frames of x each. They are displayed on screen alternatively for each eye on an active 3D set. For passive set both frames of x each are displayed simultaneously so amny would say the passive 3D are not full HD. But as we have discussed many times, it Is not the same and the difference is noticeable. Jason Shouler said:. This last snippet of information is actually very interesting as it shows that a passive TV can receive a broadcast transmission assuming it's properly encoded which exactly matches that of a blu-ray played on the same TV - which I personally believe to some extent makes the blu-ray standard redundant.

Thank you. I do like to think I have the inherent ability to give a reasoned reply. And in fact an accuarate one based on the simple fact I have TVs that use both types of technology. My understanding of what you are saying is: Blu Ray is virtually redundant because passive TVs don't benefit from the increased resolution.

So there are a couple of points here and in your later outburst. I understand your point that when we get to 4k, an attractive picture will be possible using the 4k signal. Except of course people with 4k active TVs will be able to receive a more detailed picture since apart from the SBS split in 2 an activce set won't then halve the resolution again as part of it's design.

And 4k blu rays, or whatever the technology will be then, will be the same, you will get the full resolution on an active set and half of it in a passive set. So this future reality is in fact the same as the current situation, except the source material is better making for better pictures in both technologies, though the difference remains the same too.

Some other points: Please stop saying phrases like 'active gives a slightly sharper picture'. It will confuse people. Sharpness is digital processing and is availble on any newish set.

As you well know, we are talking about an increase in resolution, picture quality, and not 'sharpness'. I would like to offer an edit to your claim, 'passive displays, which will by almost universal consent deliver superb 3d' and add this statement afterwards 'but by its very design be a lower resolution image than it's active counterpart'. I have just realied I have the same LG set as you! My active is a Samsung series.
