Who is ddosing extalia
DDoSing will get you curb stomped by the legal system if you get caught. Taking that risk for Maplestory is foolish. As far as popularity goes, there won't be figures much more accurate than Maple's for other MMOs. Or rather, what I mean is, they're all going to be inaccurate, inflating figures for advertising purposes, not having an accurate player count, etc.
That's more than the number of Maple accounts I have. User Info: CerraDawn. I wanted to post this last night, but my internet went out so here it is now: I doubt they'd test on Extalia. I don't know what kind of setup they have there, but something tells me it'd be a whole lot easier to crash and take down Extalia's site than Nexon's. I don't play or know anything about WoW, but my money is on their servers and connection being better.
If you ask me, the people who are DDoSing the Private servers are most likely rivals. They probably figure if they can take out their competition, then they win. They're the only two that I know of Private Servers that are up-to-date. As for the above- They're not playing the blame game or looking for pity. Companies don't generally like disclosing their weaknesses or shortcomings, but there comes a time when your customers or community just want to know what's up.
Nexon's community--especially that n their own site-- are some of the most vile people who complain incessantly. At a certain point, you're going to tell them, "hey, it's not us this time.
You can probably only protect your self from a bandwidth side so much. By small-time, I meant in the scheme of things. Nexon is a small fish in a very big sea. DDoS attacks are very serious, and to use them on something so pointless is idiotic.
And they're not a "small" company, but I imagine more people who game don't know about Nexon and MapleStory than do. Consider the ubiquity of WoW. I don't and have never played it, but I'e known of it's existence. MapleStory is a huge game in large part because it is free.
There is literally no barrier to entry. But eventually, you have to pay. Blizzard advertises WoW on TV. Nexon doesn't advertise anywhere around here except online, and those ads are comparatively very inexpensive. Also consider how many account on MS are duplicates or multiple accounts. I have plenty, and I'm not even someone who would benefit from having tons of accounts.
It's mostly due to years of not wanting to get rid of stuff. Now multiply that by the number of hackers and botters, adjusting for the likely number of clients they run on average.
This is a silly use of DDoS. User Info: Vysaga Taking down E-Posters that are just going to be plastered up again or game servers vital to a company's business for a few days when they're just going to go up again are both complete and utter wastes of time.
But maybe that's the point, maybe it's just for kicks and giggles? Because any serious haxxor would go for the jugular. Not by shutting down websites or game servers, or by stealing unsuspecting players' personal info. Clearly, these guys are just rebels without a goal. I have been noticing alot of complaints from maplestory servers saying DDOS attack almost every time. I'm not gonna lie, one time a week i could care less but it's getting on my nerves now.
Every night the server goes down for like 6 hours. I don't know if it's more than one guy but this guy who pretends to be doing it on msn told me he's doing it for the lulz.

With hacking I meant like hacking on Maple, but dc hacking is lame. Originally Posted by mavin Originally Posted by MentaL. It's just pathetic how people ddos just to gain players into there servers.. I didn't know there is jail time for this but here is an article Is it down right now? Or has been for a while? Would love to check it out, as I played both official Maple and many private servers back in the day. User Info: Mezmorizor. That one forum topic killed any chance of me ever playing on there again. Not because I have to fight to find a map I can train decently on. But because somehow, they've managed to optimize the game better than the official GMS staff is apparently capable of doing, and thus fix all of the godawful issues with town lag, mob lag, client start-up time, random disconnections, etc.
There's still just a slight amount of server lag which is to be expected , but for the first time in a long time, the game runs perfectly smoothly on my machine. This alone automatically makes the game dozens of times more playable and enjoyable. How is it that for many people, you can't even walk through an empty town on GMS without locking up, yet no other version including unofficial ones has this problem or anything similar on the very same systems?
So, rant topic I guess, but I thought it was interesting. As much as I dislike PS's, GMS doesn't seem to care enough to touch the code beyond haphazard copypasting any time soon, and the only other official English server to my knowledge is on the other side of the world User Info: Cornwallace Cornwallace 8 years ago 2 Latency is nonexistent for me, but I can't compare it to GMS, haven't played on that in a very long time.
